Pipelines are vital to the health and functioning of our communities. A pipeline, which is out of service even for a short period of time, causes extreme inconvenience and can have expensive consequences!
Reinforced concrete pipe offers a durable system that will provide communities with long lasting service with the minimum of inconvenience.
The following sections outline the reasons why reinforced concrete pipe has, does and will continue to provide the most durable pipeline systems throughout the world.
Concrete Pipe Facts
Concrete pipes manufactured in the 1920's for a stormwater drainage project in regional South Australia were ex-humed in 2001 and re-used as drainage pipes under an access road in Renmark, South Australia. The pipes are still serviceable 80 years after being produced!
The concrete pipe standard was made a joint Australian and New Zealand Standard in 2007. AS/NZS4058 "Precast concrete pipe" replaced the previous Australian version (AS4058-1992) and New Zealand version (NZS3107-1978).
